Discover Trelew from a local perspective on a tour that combines history, culture, and the cityscape. The experience begins at Plaza Independencia, in the city center, where we will receive a brief introduction on the origin and development of Trelew.
From there, we will walk to the San David Association, a key site for understanding the presence and organization of the Welsh community in the region. A few meters away, we will pass by the Tabernacle Chapel, one of the city's most iconic buildings, where we will learn about aspects of the spiritual, social, and cultural life of the first settlers.
We will then head to Laguna Chiquichano, a true natural oasis in the heart of the city. This area features a walking trail, interpretive signage, and over 100 recorded bird species, making it an ideal spot for birdwatching and connecting with Patagonian biodiversity.
During the visit, we will engage in birdwatching and learn about the environmental importance of birds, and we will visit a sculpture of the dinosaur Tyrannotitan chubutensis, which connects local identity with the region's paleontological richness. This spot also offers an excellent opportunity for photos.
The tour continues to a viewpoint located next to the Trelew Planetarium, where we will enjoy a panoramic view of the city, ideal for understanding its growth and transformations and for taking photographs.
To round off the experience, we will share a mate in an outdoor space, a daily practice that is part of life and encourages conversation and connection.
Throughout the tour, we will share stories and memories related to everyday life, migration, and the processes that shaped Trelew's identity, in an experience that invites us to discover the city from the inside and beyond the traditional tourist routes.
This activity is suitable for all ages and requires no prior experience. Please wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes.
