2 Day Golden Monkey Trek & Hiking in Volcanoes National Park｜Rwanda

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park & Mount Bisoke Hiking

Your unforgettable 2-day tour begins at 4:30am, with an early morning pick-up from Kigali by your professional driver-guide. Thereafter you will take the drive to Volcanoes National Park located in the northern province of Rwanda, famous for its breathtaking volcanic mountains, mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, and diverse wildlife. The drive will take about 2.5 hours to reach at the park Office in Kinigi.

The scenic drive takes you through Rwanda’s beautiful rolling hills, vibrant villages, and green countryside landscapes. Upon arrival at park office, you will Have Briefing about Hiking by the park Guide's, later proceed directly for the Mount Bisoke hiking experience.

Mount Bisoke is one of the most rewarding volcano hikes in Rwanda, standing at 3,711 meters above sea level. The hike takes you through dense bamboo forests, lush rainforest, and alpine vegetation while enjoying spectacular views of the Virunga Mountains and surrounding landscapes. Along the trail, you may spot birds, monkeys, and other wildlife living within the park.

After several hours of hiking, you will reach the stunning crater lake located at the summit of Mount Bisoke, one of the most beautiful volcanic crater lakes in the Virunga region. Take time to relax, enjoy photography, and appreciate the breathtaking panoramic scenery before descending back to the starting point.

After the hike, transfer to your lodge for dinner, relaxation, and overnight stay near Volcanoes National Park.

Day 2: Golden Monkey Trekking & Return to Kigali

Wake up early in the morning at 6:30am and enjoy breakfast before transferring to the park headquarters in Kinigi for registration and a briefing by experienced park rangers. During the briefing, you will learn about the endangered golden monkeys, trekking guidelines, and conservation efforts within Volcanoes National Park.

After the briefing, transfer to the starting point passing through Local Community. Later begin your guided golden monkey trek through the scenic bamboo forests on the slopes of the Virunga volcanoes. The trek is relatively easy and enjoyable, offering an exciting opportunity to encounter these rare and playful primates in their natural habitat.

Once the golden monkeys are located, you will spend one magical hour observing them as they jump through bamboo trees, feed, and interact with each other. This experience also offers excellent photography opportunities for wildlife lovers and nature enthusiasts.
After the trek, have Lunch in one of the Local Restaurants and Return back to Kigali.
