Day 1: Kigali – Scenic Drive to Akagera National Park – Boat Cruise on Lake Ihema

Your 3 Day tour begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel or Kigali International Airport by your driver-guide. Leaving Kigali behind, enjoy a picturesque drive through Rwanda's famous rolling hills, passing charming villages, lush farmland, and beautiful countryside before arriving at Akagera National Park.

After completing park registration, your safari officially begins. As you drive through the southern section of the park, keep your camera ready for your very first wildlife sightings. You may encounter graceful giraffes browsing among acacia trees, herds of zebras grazing peacefully, buffaloes, impalas, warthogs, baboons, and numerous colorful bird species.

Following lunch and some relaxation at your lodge, continue to Lake Ihema, the second-largest lake in Rwanda, for one of the highlights of your safari—a scenic afternoon boat cruise.

Glide quietly across calm waters while watching enormous hippos surface just meters from the boat and Nile crocodiles resting along the shoreline. Along the lake's edge, elephants and buffaloes frequently visit to drink, while African fish eagles soar overhead and kingfishers, herons, jacanas, cormorants, and countless other birds create a paradise for birdwatchers and photographers alike.

Day 2: Full-Day Big Five Safari

Early morning offers the best chance to spot predators before they retreat from the heat of the day. Keep your eyes open for majestic lions resting beneath acacia trees or, if you're fortunate, the elusive leopard quietly moving through the woodland.

As your safari continues, discover Akagera's remarkable diversity of landscapes—from rolling savannahs and open grasslands to wetlands, lakes, forests, and rocky hills.

Day 3: Sunrise Safari – Return to Kigali

Wake before sunrise for one final game drive during one of the best wildlife-viewing periods of the day.

As golden rays illuminate the savannah, animals become active once again. This is an excellent opportunity to spot predators returning from their night hunts, elephants feeding peacefully, giraffes silhouetted against the morning sky, and countless birds greeting the new day.
