Meet you tour guide in the center of Athens to discover the rich Jewish heritage of Athens on a captivating walking tour that delves into the city’s history, culture, and enduring legacy of its Jewish community. Your expert guide will introduce you to the fascinating story of Greek Jews, tracing their presence from ancient times to the modern era.
The tour starts at the historic neighborhood of Psiri, home to landmarks of Jewish life, including the Beth Shalom Synagogue. Admire the elegant architecture of this Sephardic synagogue, built in the early 20th century, and learn about its significance as a center of worship and community.
A significant stop on the tour is the Holocaust Memorial of Athens, a powerful tribute to the 60,000 Greek Jews who perished during the Holocaust. This striking monument, designed in the shape of a broken Star of David, symbolizes both the fragmentation and resilience of the Jewish community.
A highlight of the tour is the Jewish Museum of Greece, an intimate and well-curated space.
