商品説明
A half day (approximately three hours) exploration of Atlanta’s “gayborhoods” and deep history as the mecca for the South’s LGBTQ communities. I will pick you up at your home, hotel, or vacation rental in my comfortable Ford Maverick Hybrid and we’ll start at gay ground zero…the rainbow crosswalks at 10th & Piedmont in Midtown. We’ll take a nice walk to where Atlanta’s LGBT history started in Piedmont Park.
Then, we’ll head to where Atlanta LGBT history really took off on August 5th 1969 at “the Stonewall of the South that history forgot” – the Film Forum at Ansley Mall. And, since we’re there, a quick stop at Richard’s Variety Store.
Next, we’ll hop over to Ansley Square, and do a little thrifting at Out of the Closet where every purchase benefits AIDS Healthcare Foundation. We’ll take a peek in Brushstrokes for a little more risqué gift shopping, and learn a little about Atlanta’s gayest shopping plaza.
We’ll have lunch Bangkok Thai or Bantam + Biddy…your choice. Both are super popular LGBT-friendly spots with great food (cost of lunch not included).
Then, we’ll head to Sweet Auburn to learn a little about Black gay life decades before Stonewall and then to East Atlanta Village via Little Five Points and on to Atlanta’s historical epicenter of lesbian life, Decatur with a stop at Charis Books – the oldest feminist bookstore in the South.
I'll drop you off back at your pick-up place with a new understanding of Atlanta!
