On this half-day tour from Verona, venture to the region of Valpolicella for a taste of wine that has been considered legendary since Roman times. Discover the rich history of the vineyards and the wines they produce. Enjoy a wine tasting in an intimate group setting with other wine enthusiasts. Begin your journey along the Valpolicella wine route from Verona as you set out with your guide, who also will serve as your sommelier. Along the way, take in the countryside’s stunning natural beauty while riding in the comfort of an air-conditioned van. Marvel at the terraced hills and vineyards. Make your way to the scenic village of San Giorgio di Valpolicella. As you admire the intricate stonemasonry of the columns and the Romanesque parish church, be sure to catch the panoramic views of the surrounding area. After soaking up the idyllic rural atmosphere, head to a local Amarone vineyard. At the vineyard, hear about the famous Amarone wine, renowned for the particular grapes of Valpolicella and the meticulous technique involved in production. Known as a "meditation wine," the process involves careful harvesting, drying, and fermenting. Peek inside a drying room for a quick whiff. Head down to the cool air of the wine cellar. Here, you'll have a chance to taste a flight of four Valpolicella wines. Relish the flavors and scents of the Valpolicella, Ripasso, Amarone, and Recioto wines as you nibble on bread, cheese, and salami that have been carefully paired with each sip. Finally, once you've acquainted yourself with a variety of the fine wines in Valpolicella, return to Verona to complete your tour.
