PART ONE – NORTH ETNA Exploration of the north side of Etna, among craters, lava flows, and pine forests
Transport to North Etna Departure from your accommodation or a pre-arranged meeting point. You'll climb the volcano through chestnut and pine forests, with breathtaking views that precede your arrival in the wildest area of Mt. Etna.
Visit to the Grotta del Caruccio First stop in an evocative cave of a lava slide, formed by ancient flows. Learn how these underground tunnels are created as you walk among walls carved by lava.
Stop at the Rifugio Ragabo Take a break in a cool pine forest at an altitude of about 1,400 meters. Opportunity to use the amenities, purchase local products, or simply breathe in the fresh air of Mount Etna.
Walk on the 2002 lava casting We walk along the edges of the lava flow that destroyed Piano Provenzana. The landscape is lunar, but already partly reclaimed by mosses and lichens: nature reborn from destruction.
Trekking to the Monti Sartorius Easy loop hike (about 1 hour 30 minutes) among the side craters of the 1865 eruption. The trail passes through birch trees that are unique in the world and solidified lava, and offers views of the Ionian Sea and the eastern side of Etna.
Lunch break in Piano Provenzana At the end of the trekking, free time to have a packed lunch or buy hot food at the local kiosks (at the customer's expense).
SECOND PART – ALCANTARA GORGES
An adrenaline-fueled experience in the heart of the Gorges! After a short walk and a safety briefing, you enter the river and travel a stretch between rapids, natural slides, small drops, and icy waters. All under the guidance of qualified instructors.
