Your driver collects you directly from your accommodation in Rome and heads south. Settle into your private van and watch the countryside change as you travel toward the Bay of Naples - it's a long drive, so bring a book or simply enjoy the view.

Your first stop is Ravello, perched more than 300 meters above the sea. This is the Amalfi Coast at its most serene: quiet lanes, historic villas, and terraced gardens opening onto one of the most photographed views in Italy. You'll have around an hour and a half here - time to wander the piazza, sit down for lunch with the coastline spread out beneath you, or visit the gardens of Villa Rufolo (entry not included).

From Ravello you descend to the coast road itself, one of the great drives in Europe. Cliffs fall straight into the water, lemon groves cling to the terraces, and the view changes at every bend. Your driver stops along the way so you can photograph the best of it.

The road brings you into Amalfi, once a maritime republic that rivaled Venice and Genoa. Climb the sweeping staircase to the Cathedral of Saint Andrew with its striped Arab-Norman facade, then explore the narrow streets behind the main square. With another hour and a half here, there's time for a granita, some shopping, or a drink by the harbor before the return journey.

Because this is a private tour, the day belongs to you. There are no other groups to wait for and no fixed schedule to keep, and your driver can add a photo stop or a viewpoint wherever something catches your eye. As evening comes you settle back into the van for the drive home, arriving back at your hotel in Rome.
