We will walk through the heart of Reggio Emilia, following the traces left by trades, workshops, and activities that have enlivened the city's everyday life for centuries.
Through the place names, architectural details, works of art and evidence preserved in the streets of the city center, we will reconstruct a busy and populous Reggio, made up of artisans, merchants and workers.
We will discover where watchmakers, shoemakers, charcoal burners, weavers, and tanners worked, what their customs were, and how the different professions were concentrated in certain streets and neighborhoods, often even leaving their mark on the street names.
An itinerary through the now vanished Reggio Emilia, to rediscover the city's most everyday face and the stories of the men and women who, through their work, built its economic and social identity over the centuries.
