Behind the perfect facade of the Palazzo dei Diamanti lie ambitions, scandals, and choices that changed the destiny of Ferrara. In the halls of the Pinacoteca, we will follow the story of Cesare d'Este and Virginia de' Medici, a couple that was anything but predictable, amid political marriages, fragile balances, and court tensions that were never fully resolved.
The works on display become clues: saints who tell more than they show, figures now forgotten but very powerful at the time, curious details that speak of power, faith and fear. A visit that goes beyond art to reveal the more human and contradictory side of the Este court, between ostentatious devotion and carefully guarded secrets.
