Join a 4-part ceramic design course in Berlin over 4 weeks (1 session per week) and learn practical and theoretical principles of ceramics in a fun, hands-on way. Get a solid introduction to all the core ceramic techniques and materials. Learn an ancient craft while discovering ways to integrate it into contemporary design fields, which could be anything from jewelry to tableware, interior objects, and art pieces.
Week 1 / Session 1 (2,5 hours), learn hand-building and ceramic design techniques. Get introduced to the qualities and capabilities of clay and create your first ceramic piece.
Week 2 / Session 2 (2,5 hours), try out slab-building, a technique that is incredibly useful for creating ceramic vessels of numerous shapes and functions and adding a new dimension to your work.
Week 3 / Session 3 (2,5 hours), explore sculptural work with clay. Ceramics as a medium goes far beyond functional tableware, and this class will allow you to explore the techniques that could take you to the next level of 3-dimensional expression.
Week 4 / Session 4 (2,5 hours), learn how to create stunning and experimental glass-platings on your clay objects with glazes, color stains, and oxides.
