Discover what lies beyond The Canadian Canoe Museum’s docks with a one-of-a-kind paddling adventure on Little Lake. Climb aboard a voyageur canoe and experience the thrill of working as a crew, guided by a knowledgeable museum staff member. Both 36’ and 26’ voyageur canoe options are available, and your guide will choose the best canoe for your group size to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable journey. This interactive tour welcomes all ages and paddling abilities, making it perfect for families, friends, and curious explorers.
Begin your experience at the museum’s waterfront, where your guide will provide a safety briefing and help you get fitted with a personal flotation device (PFD) and paddle. After learning essential paddling techniques and safety guidelines, set off together across Little Lake. As you paddle, your guide shares stories about the history of voyageur canoes, the waterways that shaped Canada, and the teamwork required to navigate these iconic vessels. Everyone is encouraged to paddle as part of the crew. No experience is needed, but teamwork is key to the journey.
Tours last about one hour, with approximately 45 minutes of active paddling on the water. All visitors must wear PFDs and comply with boat safety guidelines. Please note that getting in and out of the canoe may be challenging for those with mobility or stability concerns. The tour runs rain or shine, so dress appropriately for the weather. After your adventure, return to the museum’s docks, where you can continue exploring or relax by the lake.
