Start with a storyteller who stood beside the dry Falls in 1969, whose re-enactment team delighted a massive crowd and ended up beneath Nik Wallenda as he stepped onto his wire in 2012. He has delivered 5-Star tours in 4 seasons. He has led groups of all size on both sides of the border, including celebraties and leaders! Peter has performed for years as a re-enactor portraying - among others - Augustus Porter (whose family owned the lands that became Niagara Falls State Park) and walked beside Nikola Tesla, Maria Spelterini and Annie Edson Taylor (the first person to go over the Falls in a Barrel) in their re-enactment form. The experiences Your Host has had at Niagara Falls and the surrounding region will make your head spin! On top of it all, nobody delivers so much with so much fun!
In 100 minutes plus the 20-minute Boat Ride, you’ll learn so much more about Niagara Falls that you’ll be anxious to visit the amazing region it has inspired. This is a small-group walking tour. Led by one of Niagara’s most engaging and knowledgeable historians, you’ll discover a humorous story that connects the dots that make up Niagara Falls and its 12,000-year history.
This is first, and foremost, an 80-90 minute walking tour. We respectfully ask that those who undertake it be able to walk at least 1 mile, with frequent stops, while enjoying the vistas and views unique to the Canadian side of the Falls. Wheelchairs and scooters are welcome.
We start at Table Rock, atop the western end of the mighty Horseshoe Falls. Walk along the rim of the Niagara Gorge that was so violently created by the effects of water breaking rock over 12 millennia. We stop frequently allowing for stories and legends to be imparted through humor or lighthearted stories. Daredevils – from triumph to tragedy! Niagara attractions and experiences that both “thrilled and killed”. Developers, impresarios, and charlatans who made money and history at and in the Falls. The heart of courage demonstrated by those who fled slavery on the Underground Railroad. Botanists, Engineers, Funambulists and Inventors and the stories just go on!
It’s all there in a story that has been 40 years in the making. The experience doesn’t end – it introduces! You will be introduced to many places of your own interest that you will want to visit in the Niagara Region!
Your tour ends with a ticket and experience to Niagara Falls “Wonder within a Wonder”, Niagara City Cruises. Your walking tour transitions into a unique Q&A as you await the Boat.
Oh, and to start, Niagara Falls is NOT, and has never been, one of the Seven Wonders of the World! There's more to explore, so come and join us.
