Utsjoki: Northern lights tour with car or at lávvu-hut｜Finland

Did you know that Utsjoki is one of the best places to see Northern Lights, Aurora Borealis? There is practically no light pollution and as the location is in the polar region, you have about a 90-95 % chance of seeing the Auroras during one week stay in Utsjoki from mid-September to early April.

On our northern lights tour, a local guide will pick you up from your accommodation (max 10 km from Utsjoki village) and drive to some of the best dark locations within 30 minute drive from the village. You will be given a headlamp and an extra jacket if cold. Hot juice or tea is included in the tour!

Our northern lights tours start normally around 8 PM, but we will confirm the starting time the day of the tour or the day prior to the tour with email. Please note that tour start time can be even 3 hours later than this, especially in the Autumn and Spring tours, when evenings are lighter than during mid-winter.

If the northern lights are dancing right above the village, instead of driving around, we spend the evening in our traditional lávvu-hut, with a view across Teno River and the Sámi Bridge, and of course the northern sky. You will spend a nice evening by open fire, listening to stories about life in the Arctic and the Auroras. The guide will serve you warm juice or tea.

Please note that the Auroras are a natural phenomenon, not controlled by us. We can´t turn them on and off when we want, but we can bring you to a good location to see them and make sure you have a good time, safely and guided! The tour length is approximately 1-3 hours, depending on our luck with Lady Aurora.

Please note that the price includes pick-up and drop-off maximum 10 km from Utsjoki Village. Our tours are always small groups or private tours.
