● Northern Lights FAQs – Rovaniemi
Q: When is the best time? A: Late August to mid April, when nights are dark. We monitor weather and cloud cover for the best conditions.
Q: How far can we drive? A: Our Unlimited KM, Private & Guaranteed tours have no fixed distance limit and may travel far outside Rovaniemi.
Q: Can we enter Sweden or Norway? A: Yes. If weather conditions are better elsewhere the tours may cross from Finland into Sweden or Norway, when safe and practical. The route is decided according to real-time weather, road and Aurora conditions. Please carry a valid passport or national ID.
Q: What happens after we find them? A: Once we find the Northern Lights, we take photos, give you time to enjoy the Aurora, and serve hot drinks and cookies. After a successful sighting, we begin our journey back to Rovaniemi as part of our commitment to sustainable tourism and avoiding unnecessary driving and carbon emissions. If we spot stronger or more spectacular Northern Lights on the way back, if time permits we will of course stop again to enjoy the Aurora and take more photos.
Q: What happens if we don't capture the Aurora? How does the guarantee work? A: In guaranteed tours if we cannot capture the Northern Lights with our camera you will receive a 100% refund or a free retry, processed in accordance with KKday’s refund procedures.
Q: How many guests are in the group? A: Our Northern Lights tours are small-group experiences with a maximum of 8 guests. A smaller group allows us to move quickly, travel longer distances and provide a more personal Aurora hunting and photography experience.
Q: Are photos included? A: Yes. Northern Lights photography and HD photos are included. and delivered within 24 hours.
