We start at our agency or pick you up at your accommodation to begin the adventure by observing the geological richness of the territory. The first village we pass through is Curarrehue, which means "Stone Altar" in Mapudungun, and has been sculpted by glaciers and rivers.
We continue the tour to Puesco, which means "Water of the North". Here we will have a privileged view of the Las Peinetas rock formation, also known as Sierra Millallifen, a natural monument created by the collision of tectonic plates.
Arrival at the Puesco sector of Villarrica National Park, where we begin the excursion at 1,010 meters above sea level with a leisurely hike through forests of centuries-old coihue trees for 3.4 kilometers to the river. There, we take off our shoes to cross, take a break, and continue ascending through wonderful forests full of life, accompanied by the singing of birds, for 4.5 kilometers with a 765-meter elevation gain until we reach the vantage point of Quinquilil Volcano with privileged panoramic views of Lanin Awelñanko Volcano, Quetrupillan Volcano, and Las Peinetas or Sierra Millallifen. If we are lucky, we will be accompanied by the magnificent Andean condors, or "Mankes," the guardians of the heights.
After enjoying the vastness of the landscape, eating, and taking pictures, we'll begin the descent to the valley for approximately 3 to 4 hours. To end the experience, we'll celebrate at the agency on the banks of the Loncofilo River with a natural juice or beer and a view of the rugged Quinquilil Volcano on the horizon.
