Experience the magic of skiing under the Arctic night sky on this guided evening adventure. Whether you're an experienced skier or simply comfortable on blue and red slopes, you're welcome to join. Your certified local guide will lead you through peaceful winter terrain, sharing local knowledge while ensuring a safe and unforgettable experience.
Since 2011, we've shared our passion for Tromsø's mountains with guests from around the world. Safety is always our highest priority, and with over a decade of guiding experience, your guide will choose the best route and conditions for an enjoyable evening in the snow.
As darkness falls, the mountains take on a completely different atmosphere. With headlamps lighting the way, we'll glide through quiet forests and open terrain, surrounded by snow-covered landscapes and panoramic views of Tromsø, the surrounding fjords, and the sparkling city lights below.
On clear nights, we may be lucky enough to witness the Northern Lights dancing across the Arctic sky. While the aurora is a natural phenomenon and can never be guaranteed, skiing beneath it is a truly unforgettable experience when conditions align.
Participants should be confident skiers who are comfortable on blue and red slopes. No previous night skiing or ski touring experience is required. Your guide will provide instruction on using headlamps and help you feel comfortable skiing in the dark. However, we are not skiing on slopes but instead off piste in the wilderness.
Each trip is adapted to the group's skiing ability, fitness level, and the current weather and snow conditions. We always choose the safest and most enjoyable route, allowing plenty of opportunities to stop, take photos, and simply enjoy the silence of the Arctic night.
The experience changes throughout the season:
December–January: The darkest period of the year offers the best opportunities for Northern Lights. Skiing by headlamp through snowy forests creates a magical winter atmosphere.
February–March: Longer evenings with lingering twilight provide beautiful colors on the horizon while still offering excellent chances to see the aurora on clear nights.
This trip takes place in safe, non-technical terrain outside avalanche terrain, glaciers, and lift-accessed slopes. It is designed as an enjoyable evening adventure where the focus is on experiencing the Arctic landscape after dark; with the possibility of seeing one of nature's greatest spectacles.
