商品説明
Norwegian families do not go skiing to get anywhere. They go because Sunday is Sunday, and because there is saft and chocolate halfway round. This lesson is that Sunday, with someone who can actually teach you.
Sognsvann is where Oslo families have taken their children onto skis for generations — the last stop on metro line 5, a lake ringed by a flat 3.3-kilometre loop, and the gate into Nordmarka forest. It is 20 minutes from the city centre and it is deliberately, gloriously easy terrain. Nobody in your family is going to be frightened here.
Your instructor meets you at the meeting point with skis, boots and poles for everyone, sized in advance from the heights and shoe sizes you give when booking. The first quarter of an hour is spent fitting the family properly, which matters more than anyone expects: a boot that fits is the difference between a teenager who enjoys this and one who doesn't.
Then ninety minutes of teaching, for all of you at once. You'll learn to balance on one ski, to push and glide instead of walk, to get up again without drama, and to slow down on the one gentle descent. Because the lesson is private, your instructor adapts continuously — teenagers usually pick this up quicker than their parents, and a good coach uses that rather than fights it. Every GoSki instructor is trained and teaches beginners every week of the season.
Halfway through, everyone stops. Your instructor pours hot saft — the warm berry drink Norwegian children drink on every ski trip — and hands out Norwegian snack, the chocolate bar that has gone into Norwegian rucksacks since 1937. This is not a refreshment break bolted onto a tour. It is the part of the day Norwegian children actually remember.
The last half hour puts it together with a short ski along the trail, and your instructor takes photographs of the family on the move, which is usually the picture people end up sending home.
You'll finish able to ski the Sognsvann loop under your own steam — and with a reasonable claim to having spent a day being Norwegian.
