Visit this "Plus Beaux Village de France" ("Most Beautiful Village of France") with me! There are many monuments: Palais de la Raymondie, Hôtel de Briance, Hôtel Fabri, Place de la Halle, or the Church of Saint-Maur... Martel was the favorite town of the Vicomté de Turenne. In the Middle Ages, these important lords made the town a trading city centered around the salt trade. Later, trade continued with the "tuber melanosporum" truffle and Périgord walnuts. Wednesday and Saturday mornings are market days in Martel! An opportunity to continue your exploration of the town by strolling among the stands to discover all the local produce of the region. Martel is also recognized as a "Site de Goût" by the French Ministry of Gastronomy.
