Explore Oxford's art with an art historian and Sotheby’s specialist. Join your guide on a rich, rewarding, and entertaining journey through the history of European art at the Ashmolean Museum. The Ashmolean Museum is part of Oxford University, and the first museum to be opened to the public in this country, opening the doors of its original building in 1683.
Take a grand tour in art history from Ancient Greek art to Picasso, discovering major highlights of sculpture and painting on the way, ranging between famous masterpieces such as Paolo Uccello’s 15th century ‘Hunt in the Forest’, to Picasso’s ‘Blue Roofs, Paris’ painted at the dawn of the 20th century.
During the experience, you’ll not only be introduced to the history of Western art – you’ll also be introduced to specialist skills, including close up viewing, and spotting painting restorations. You’ll also learn about the history of the museum and its collections.
Enjoy a coffee break half way through the visit on the Rooftop terrace café with a beautiful view of Oxford.
