Looking for a different side of London? Step away from the royal pageantry and postcard landmarks and join us for a lively 3-hour afternoon experience uncovering the scandals, dramas and conspiracies that unfolded inside four historic pubs on one of the city’s most influential streets.
This adults-only walking tour explores the places where politicians plotted, journalists shaped headlines, writers argued, and reputations were made — and destroyed. Behind these pub doors, stories emerged that didn’t just change London, but helped shape Britain and, in some cases, the wider world.
You’ll visit four carefully selected historic pubs, each with its own remarkable past. Along the way, your guide will bring to life tales of power struggles, press wars, literary feuds, political intrigue and larger-than-life characters whose behaviour often shocked their contemporaries. These were the unofficial meeting rooms of decision-makers, radicals, and cultural figures who left a lasting mark on history.
We'll enjoy a few drinks and some traditional pub snacks along the way but it's not a pub crawl. More an afternoon of storytelling with some decent flavour enhancers.
Expect engaging storytelling, sharp insight and a relaxed, social atmosphere.
Perfect for seasoned travellers, curious minds and return visitors to London, this tour offers something beyond the usual sightseeing experience. If you enjoy uncovering the human side of history — the ambition, ego, rivalry and ambition that shaped events — this is for you.
By the end of the afternoon, you’ll see this iconic street in a completely new light and walk away with compelling stories that most visitors never hear. And hopefully have a few new drinks favourites.
