Discover the sightseeing highlights of Chester on this guided walking tour. A local guide will show you around the heart of the city, which is famous for its historic streets, incredible architecture, and unique Rows.
Meet your guide at the steps of the Visitor Information Centre on the Town Hall Square and begin your adventure. Imagine a scene and a place and tread in the location of their stories, you may hear of Roman soldiers, Saxons and Vikings, a Mercian princess and a talking goose!
Your guide will tell of a Norman Earl, the Wolf with the power to make and break laws, who built a medieval abbey which is now a cathedral, a survivor of the Dissolution frenzy, and a Victorian facelift.
From the lives of everyday folk and their medieval houses, to the homes of the landed gentry with townhouses and mansions to impress. Stand on the walls of the city, originally for defence, they kept enemies at bay and later became a grand promenade, and see the iconic Eastgate Clock.
