Day Tour (for Ghost Tour, see below)

We'll walk through the historic City Centre and the Backs, seeing gorgeous landmarks in quaint old streets, picturesque alleys and dreamy, park-like settings.

You'll hear

- how Cambridge University began as a bunch of religious schools more than 800 years ago, because of a bloody riot in Oxford

- how it has taught and hosted countless famous people who changed the world

- how a religious scholar scribbling atop a tower here ended up shaking the whole of Europe by accident

- The dismal reason why our two greatest colleges are bitter rivals

YOU'LL SEE:

- the FRONT QUAD of a historic college (if open on the day)

- the RAF bar and the most famous bridge in China (really!)

- a small 19th century lab that once was the greatest centre of science in the world

- stunning LANDMARKS

- charming BRIDGES with romantic and entertaining histories

  • Know Before You Go: This tour involves walking around the city, on and off, for 90-110 minutes. Mostly short stretches, on level ground. Sometimes the streets or paths are a bit wet, muddy or uneven. Sometimes there's not much shade. Please come appropriately equipped for a comfortable and pleasant experience

  • Know Before You Go: If booking a private tour, you are welcome to contact me (1) if you want to alter the time of your tour after booking, for instance to a time not available on the web site, if I can do it at that time; (2) if you want to change the number of people in your group.

  • Know Before You Go: If booking onto a public tour, you are welcome to contact me to switch to another scheduled tour, provided that there are / will be enough people on that tour to make it economical to run.

  • Know Before You Go: If you are running late for a tour, please let me know by contacting me via telephone or WhatsApp, and I will do my best to include you so you don't miss the whole tour, or to put you on another, later tour that is already booked by other people.
