Over the past 30 years, the Franco-German artist Jacques Gassmann has created over 30 contemporary works of art for churches in Franconia alone, all of which were commissioned. He lives in Würzburg and Berlin, where he has a gallery on Fasanenstrasse.
Just like in the Baroque era, when great painters created masterpieces for the church, meeting a living artist today is a unique opportunity to experience the mood and situation on the spot.
In 120 minutes, you'll be guided through the 3 main churches in Würzburg's city center, accompanied by informative and entertaining stories about the origin of his works, their content, and spatial context, with many exciting anecdotes. You can ask anything and help shape the rhythm and focus. The 3 churches are located on the main street, just a few minutes' walk from each other. At the end of the tour, the artist will sign a catalog book for you, which you can keep as a gift. The artist is fluent in German and French and speaks English very well.
