Stop 1: The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lorsch

Immerse yourself in the early Middle Ages! The Lorsch Abbey complex was once one of the most important intellectual and cultural centers of the Frankish Empire.
• The world-famous Royal Hall (Gate Hall): The proud landmark of the town is the only fully preserved architectural monument from the Carolingian period north of the Alps. Marvel at the original red-and-white sandstone façade from the 8th/9th century.
• The basilica fragment: The preserved part of the once monumental abbey church lets you sense the monastery's former grandeur.
• The Lauresham Open-Air Laboratory: The 9th century comes to life on a 4.1-hectare site. Walk through a real 1:1 model of an early medieval manor house and experience historical craft techniques and the world of agricultural work up close.

Stop 2: Romance & automotive culture in Ladenburg

After a leisurely lunch break, we will enjoy a panoramic drive with picturesque views of the Rhine-Neckar district. Our destination: The charming town of Ladenburg right on the banks of the Neckar.
• Historic old town with an element of mystery: Stroll through narrow alleyways past over 120 lovingly restored half-timbered houses. Together, we will uncover the secrets of the town: Why does Ladenburg's town goat have its own monument? And why did the horse at the town gate lose its head?
• In the footsteps of Carl Benz: Visit the former home of the Benz family right next to Carl-Benz-Park. An absolute highlight for technology fans: the oldest planned car garage in the world, dating from 1910 and built in the style of a fortified tower.
