Begin your journey by traveling along the N1 highway, a national route in South Africa that runs from Cape Town through Bloemfontein, Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Polokwane to Beit Bridge on the border with Zimbabwe. It forms the first section of the famed Cape to Cairo Road.
Arrive at the Warwick Estate, where the Ratcliffe Family released their first wine, La Femme Bleu Cabernet Sauvignon was released in 1984, after which the estate went on to bottle the first ever ‘Cape Blend’ in the world, won multiple international wine awards, appeared on some of the planet’s most prestigious wine lists, and even became a wine of choice for James Bond in one of his many adventures.
Next, visit the Simonsig Family Vineyards and relax under oak trees in summer or in front of the fireplace in winter. Taste through the wonderful range of wines and Cap Classique's alongside some delicious platters and Neapolitan-style pizzas.
Finally, head to the Muratie Wine Estate, a farm founded on a love story and once owned by Martin Melck that stayed in his family for 120 years and now, since 1987, is once again owned by his descendants. Here, be treated to the six flagship wines that embody the heritage of this farm.
