Your adventure begins before sunrise with collection from your accommodation in Malelane, Marloth Park or Komatipoort, allowing us to enter the Kruger National Park from gate opening and explore until gate closing. Spend approximately 12 hours on safari, making the most of your time in one of Africa’s greatest wildlife destinations. Starting at gate opening gives you the opportunity to experience Kruger during the cooler early morning hours, when many animals are active and the bush begins to come alive.
Throughout the day, your guide will explore different habitats and areas of the park in search of Kruger’s incredible wildlife. With an extended day at your disposal, there is more time to follow promising sightings, explore further and appreciate both the iconic animals and the smaller details that make every safari unique.
Keep watch for the legendary Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo — while also searching for cheetahs, African wild dogs, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, hippos, antelope and an incredible variety of birdlife. Wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, but every journey through Kruger brings new possibilities.
During the safari, we will stop at selected rest camps where you can enjoy breakfast and lunch, purchase refreshments, browse the curio shops or simply take a break before continuing your adventure. Bottled water is provided, while meals and additional refreshments are for your own account unless arranged in advance.
As the day progresses, experience the changing atmosphere of the African bush. The warmer midday hours often provide opportunities to explore waterholes and shaded areas, while the cooler late afternoon can bring renewed wildlife activity. The softer afternoon light also creates excellent conditions for photography.
Unlike a standard full day safari, the Extended Full Day Safari takes advantage of Kruger’s operating hours from gate opening to gate closing, giving you more time in the park and the opportunity to experience the wilderness from early morning through to late afternoon.
As gate closing approaches, we make our way towards the exit before returning you to your accommodation in Malelane, Marloth Park or Komatipoort. Exact collection and return times vary according to the season and Kruger National Park gate times.
