Your first destination is the village of Brateiu, where you'll experience a unique cultural exchange. Meet local Roma artisans and witness the traditional craft of copper processing in a workshop, learning about this age-old skill passed down through generations, see traditional Roma clothing and customs and dive into a uncovered unique culture.
Continue to Biertan, home to one of Transylvania's most impressive fortified churches, a designated UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the formidable defensive layers, including three circuits of walls and numerous towers, like the intriguing 'marriage prison'. Step inside the church to admire the stunning multi-paneled altar and other historical artifacts, learning about the site's rich history and architectural evolution.
Next, enjoy a scenic drive to the medieval citadel of Sighisoara, another UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the best-preserved inhabited medieval fortresses in Europe. Enter through the iconic Clock Tower and wander the charming cobblestone streets. Ascend the historic Covered Scholars' Stairway to reach the Church on the Hill, where you can admire ancient frescoes and enjoy the views. Take a well-deserved break for lunch at a local restaurant within the historic citadel walls.
In the afternoon, depart Sighisoara for the charming village of Stejarisu. Enjoy a peaceful journey through the village orchards and the surrounding serene countryside, connecting with the authentic rhythm of Transylvanian village life.
