This is not just a cooking class. It is a full-day immersion into Khmer village life, guided by your host Sophors.

Just 15 minutes from Phnom Penh, cross the Mekong and step into a slower rhythm. Check in from 1:00 PM and settle into our peaceful countryside guesthouse. Relax on the wooden floor balcony, take a dip in the open-air jacuzzi, and breathe in the scent of Areyksat Village.

At 4:00 PM, the cooking journey begins. First, visit the lively local market to explore Khmer ingredients. Then walk back through rice fields and waving neighbors to pick fresh herbs in Sophors’ organic garden. Along the way, you will learn about village farming techniques and foraging.

In our open-air kitchen, learn how to prepare three traditional dishes. Pound pastes by hand, balance spices, and taste the richness of real Khmer food. Dinner is shared under the guesthouse roof with warm stories and full plates.

After the meal, take time to rest, unwind in a hammock, or enjoy the calm of the village at night. In the morning, a fresh cup of coffee and a healthy countryside breakfast will be waiting for you.

This is your escape. A full day of cooking, connecting, and experiencing Khmer village life at your own pace.

  • Know Before You Go: Our guesthouse is simple (4 private rooms), beautiful, and surrounded by nature. Each room is private and thoughtfully furnished, but bathrooms are not inside the rooms. Two clean, Western-style shower blocks are located just downstairs and are well maintained.

  • Know Before You Go: Wi-Fi is available in the guesthouse. We encourage guests to embrace the slower pace, disconnect when possible, and enjoy the rhythms of village life.
