商品説明
Travel beyond the most popular temples of Angkor and explore the Banteay Chhmar Temples, located in Banteay Meanchey Province, about 20 km east of the Thai border.
Learn about the temple's history, Banteay Chhmar was built during the reign of Jayavarman VII in the late 12th or early 13th century. Discover how one of the temple's shrines once held an image of Srindrakumara rajaputra (the crown prince), probably a son of Jayavarman VII.
Hear about the long Old Khmer inscription found at the site (K.227), now on display in the National Museum, Phnom Penh, which relates how this prince or a king (samtac) was protected on two different occasions by four royal servants, all of whom lost their lives in his defense.
Continue to Banteay Top, about 5 km south of Banteay Chmar. Admire the temple's five large sanctuaries that look incredibly fragile despite their size. Although the temple doesn’t look large, satellite images show it at the center of an area 800 meters long and 500 meters wide.
