Depart from the fishing village of Fumba and head deep into the Menai Bay Marine Conservation Area. Stop at a shimmering sandbank, where shaded tents are set up for you to enjoy fresh tropical fruit and cool drinks. Swim in the shallow pools or join your guides for a snorkeling session at a nearby reef.
The underwater world here is teeming with tropical fish, starfish, and colorful coral heads. On the way between stops, keep your camera ready—the bay is a sanctuary for wild dolphins, and sightings are a frequent highlight.
Next, head to Kwale Island, where you’ll find a rustic beach restaurant tucked under the trees. Enjoy a legendary spread of grilled lobster, fish, prawns, and chicken, followed by a "fruit tasting" of over ten different seasonal Zanzibari fruits. After lunch, take a short walk to see a massive, 500-year-old fallen Baobab tree that still continues to grow—a true wonder of nature.
Before heading back to the mainland, sail into a hidden mangrove lagoon. Accessible only at high tide, this "natural swimming pool" is surrounded by ancient mangrove forests and offers some of the most tranquil, emerald-green water on the island. It’s the perfect final stop for a quiet swim before the late-afternoon sail back to Fumba.
