Begin your adventure at Jozani Forest, a lush sanctuary teeming with rare wildlife. Under the shade of towering mahogany trees, search for the Kirk’s Red Colobus monkey. Unlike many primates, these monkeys are incredibly habituated to humans, allowing for close-up views as they socialize in the canopy.
After the forest walk, explore the Mangrove Boardwalk, a surreal landscape where land meets sea. Watch thousands of black crabs at work beneath the intricate root systems of the mangroves while your guide explains the vital role this ecosystem plays in protecting the coastline.
Next, head south to the village of Kizimkazi to visit Salaam Cave. This natural limestone cave is filled with crystal-clear fresh water and serves as a vital sanctuary for sea turtles. Step into the refreshing turquoise water for a magical swimming experience alongside rescued green sea turtles.
Help the local guides feed the turtles with seaweed and learn about the rehabilitation efforts that allow these creatures to eventually return to the open ocean. The cave’s cool atmosphere and shimmering light make this an ethereal and peaceful highlight of the tour.
The final stop is the world-renowned The Rock Restaurant, an architectural marvel sitting atop a coral rock surrounded by the Indian Ocean. Depending on the tide, you may walk across the sand or take a small wooden boat to reach the stairs.
