Meet your guide and set off on a gorilla trekking adventure in Volcanoes National Park. Hike through dense bamboo forests and volcanic slopes to spend one hour observing a habituated gorilla family in its natural habitat.
Choose from a variety of activities in the park, including golden monkey trekking, guided hikes to the Dian Fossey tomb and former Karisoke Research Center, volcano summit hikes up Bisoke and Karisimbi, and cultural visits to the nearby Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village, where you can experience traditional Rwandan dance, music, and daily life demonstrations.
The terrain is steep, muddy, and high-altitude, so treks typically require moderate to good fitness, waterproof clothing, sturdy hiking boots, and gardening gloves for gripping vegetation. Trekking permits are limited and regulated by the Rwanda Development Board to protect the gorilla population, so advance booking is essential.
