Begin with pickup from your hotel or the airport in Managua and travel in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle with your bilingual local guide. Along the way, stop at a scenic viewpoint overlooking Lake Managua and Momotombo Volcano. Continue through Nagarote, known for quesillo, and taste this traditional Nicaraguan specialty.

Arrive in León and explore its historic center on a guided walk. Visit the UNESCO-listed León Cathedral and, when access is available, climb to its rooftop for panoramic views of the city and surrounding volcanoes. Learn about León’s history, architecture, culture, and importance to Nicaragua.

Continue by 4x4 toward Cerro Negro, one of Central America’s youngest active volcanoes. Hike across its striking black volcanic terrain while your guide explains the landscape and helps you prepare for the descent.

At the top, receive your protective jumpsuit, gloves, goggles, board, and safety instructions. Learn how to control your speed before sandboarding down the volcanic slope at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
