On this 6 hour educational tour our first stop is at the Walvis Bay lagoon (RAMSAR site) popular sighting of a variety of bird species such as flamingos, pelicans, avocet, terns. The guide will explain the ecological importance of the wetlands. We then proceed to Dune 7 one of Namibia’s highest accessible sand dune, hiking (optional) up the dune is fun. After 30 minutes’ drive we cross into the Namib Naukluft National Park, our guide will show you unique desert flora such as lichen fields. Next stop is the famous “moonlandscape”. Over the years as the Swakop river flows to the Atlantic Ocean, the path created a “moonlike” landscape, offering a magnificent view. We then proceed to the Welwitschia fields, also known as the living fossil. A stop at Goanikontes for refreshments, then proceed to Swakopmund, a historic German city popular for its old architecture Included: park entry fees and refreshments
