Follow the iconic Great Ķemeri Bog Boardwalk through one of Europe’s protected wetland habitats while your experienced local nature guide reveals the fascinating stories hidden within the landscape. Learn how this ancient bog formed over thousands of years, why carnivorous plants thrive here, how wildlife adapts to this unique environment and why these wetlands play such an important role in Latvia’s biodiversity.
Rather than following a scripted tour, we encourage curiosity and conversation. Every experience is shaped by the season, the weather and your interests, combining expert nature interpretation with insights into Latvian culture, traditions and everyday life.
Every season transforms the bog. Spring brings colourful blooms and returning birds, summer offers vibrant greenery and dragonflies, autumn paints the landscape in warm golden colours, while winter reveals a peaceful world of frost and silence.
Optional sunrise experience: During summer, choose an early departure to experience the magical atmosphere of sunrise as mist drifts across the bog and wildlife becomes active.
Optional Jūrmala visit: On the way back, you can also choose to stop in Latvia’s best-known seaside resort to stroll along its white sandy beach, admire its historic wooden architecture and, in summer, enjoy a refreshing swim in the Gulf of Riga.
