The Cultural Bumthang Trek is a 12-day journey through the heart of Bhutan, offering a rich blend of scenic beauty, traditional villages, and sacred monasteries. This moderate trek winds through the lush Bumthang Valley, often called the spiritual core of Bhutan, where ancient Buddhist culture is deeply woven into daily life.
As you walk through pine forests, open pastures, and charming hamlets, you'll encounter centuries-old temples like Jakar Dzong and Kurjey Lhakhang. The trail provides opportunities to connect with local communities, observe traditional Bhutanese architecture, and witness timeless rituals. Itinerary: Day 01: Arrival in Paro Meet & greet at Paro airport, transfer to hotel. Day 02: Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery Acclimatization hike (4–5 hrs) to the iconic Taktsang Monastery. Day 03: Drive to Thimphu (1 hr) Short scenic drive to Bhutan’s capital. Explore local sites. Day 04: Thimphu to Punakha via Dochu-La Pass (4–5 hrs) Drive through mountain passes with Himalayan views and chortens. Day 05: Punakha to Bumthang via Trongsa (6–7 hrs) Long drive through beautiful valleys and cultural heartland. Day 06: Explore Bumthang Visit monasteries, Jakar Dzong, and historic temples. Day 07: Trek to Ngang Lhakhang (5–6 hrs) Begin trek through forests and village trails. Day 08: Trek to Ugyenchholing (6–7 hrs) Scenic trek across meadows and ridges. Day 09: Trek to Jakar Final day of trekking back to Bumthang’s main town. Day 10: Drive to Punakha (5–6 hrs) Return journey through Trongsa and Yotong-La. Day 11: Drive to Paro via Dochu-La Scenic drive back with a brief stop at Dochu-La. Day 12: Departure Transfer to Paro airport for international flight.
