In January, Benin resounds with the drums of voodoo. Not metaphorically. Literally. The sounds pass through walls, streets, and sleep. They start before dawn and don't stop until nightfall.

A land of spirituality, remembrance, and celebration, Benin opens the doors to its ancestral traditions during the Voodoo Festival – celebrated every second Friday in January since it was legally added to the national calendar in 1992. Wa Africa takes you on a 3-day group tour, from January 9 to 11, 2027, to experience Vodun Days in the heart of Beninese communities.

This trip has hours without a program. On January 10 in Ouidah, no one can tell you in advance what will happen, where the drums will sound, or which ceremony will begin. That's the point. You don't plan Voodoo. We let it move through us.
