Begin your adventure in Probolinggo, where you’ll be picked up from the train station or bus station. You can also opt for a pickup from Malang or Surabaya. Head to Cemoro Lawang, a village at 2,300 meters, on the edge of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.

In the evening, settle into a rustic guesthouse with hot water and Wi-Fi. Enjoy a local dinner and rest up for the night’s adventure.

Wake up at 3:30 AM and hop into a 4x4 jeep. Cross the sea of sand and climb 250 steps to the summit of Mount Bromo (2,300 m). As the sun rises, witness the breathtaking sight of the smoking crater, surrounded by the majestic Batok (2,400 m) and Semeru (3,677 m) volcanoes.

Next, visit the less crowded Seruni viewpoint for a panoramic view of the Tengger volcanic massif. After a well-deserved Javanese breakfast, head back to Probolinggo, arriving around 11 AM.
