Hello dear visitor, my name is Arnaud and will be your native Guide of this magnificent Provence. Among the 5 tours I offer, I take you today to the lavender fields of Provence and to 2 typical villages that are Gordes and Roussillon.
After pickup in front of Hôtel Bristol in Avignon, I will first take you to a lavender field near the village of Velleron. This is a big field with the famous Mont Ventoux as a backdrop.
You will then visit the village of Roussillon, an iconic village in the area, with its facades entirely composed of ochre, giving it its unique color. The viewpoint is also very interesting for a nice view on the ochre hills, the mountain ranges around and the village of Gordes.
Then we will have picnic consisting of fresh produce from local farms, such as eggs, black olives tapenade, sweet pepper tapenade, fresh goat cheese, seasonal fruits, fruits juice... It will take place near the quiet small village of Murs, in the shades, with a nice view on the valley.
We will then enjoy the magnificent lavender fields of the Abbey of Sénanque, an 11th century building with magnificent lavender fields managed by the monks of the estate. A few of their lavender fields are open, then you will be able to walk in them and take some very beautiful pictures of lavender with the abbey in the background. You will also be able to enjoy your time in the abbey's library and shop to smell wonderful fragrances.
After this, you will spend free time in the iconic village of Gordes, built of dry stones on a rocky promontory. There, you will be able to walk in stony narrow streets, to enjoy the panoramic view on the valley and to spend good time in a café around. Then, I will pick you up and drive you to the iconic viewpoint on the village and the valley.
To finish, we will then enjoy another magnificent lavender field in the area, near the village of Oppède or on the Plateau des Claparèdes, depending on the blooming season and the harvest period.
The tour will end at the same place as it started.
