Product Info

Discover the spectacular south and southwest of Mauritius on this unforgettable full-day private tour combining wildlife encounters, sacred temples, waterfalls, volcanic landscapes, dramatic coastlines, and breathtaking panoramic viewpoints.

Your adventure begins at La Vanille Crocodile Park where you will discover giant tortoises, Nile crocodiles, iguanas, exotic insects, eels, and many rare endemic species while learning about Mauritius’ unique biodiversity. The park also features exhibits dedicated to extinct animals such as the famous dodo and the elephant bird of Madagascar, offering an immersive wildlife experience for all ages.

The journey then continues toward the wild southern coastline at Gris-Gris, one of Mauritius’ most dramatic natural landscapes. Unlike the calm lagoons found elsewhere on the island, Gris-Gris is exposed directly to the powerful Indian Ocean, where massive waves crash violently against rugged cliffs creating spectacular scenery.

After exploring the dramatic south coast, enjoy a delicious traditional Mauritian lunch at a local restaurant. Savor authentic island flavors and local specialties prepared with aromatic Mauritian spices.

The adventure then heads into the scenic highlands toward the sacred crater lake of Grand Bassin. Surrounded by temples and shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and other Hindu deities, this peaceful spiritual site located approximately 550 meters above sea level is one of Mauritius’ most important pilgrimage destinations.

Continue into the lush landscapes to discover Alexandra Falls, one of Mauritius’ most scenic waterfalls. Situated around 700 meters above sea level, the viewpoint offers breathtaking panoramic views over dense rainforest, deep valleys, and the turquoise southern coastline.

Nearby, stop at the famous Gorges viewpoint, where spectacular panoramas unfold across Mauritius’ largest protected rainforest reserve. Endless stretches of untouched tropical forest, rolling hills, waterfalls, and lush vegetation create one of the island’s most impressive natural landscapes.

The journey continues toward Chamarel, home to the world-famous Seven Colored Earth. This extraordinary natural phenomenon features surreal volcanic sand dunes displaying vibrant shades of red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple, and yellow formed through ancient volcanic activity. The site also includes a giant tortoise park and souvenir shop.

Just nearby, admire the magnificent Chamarel Waterfall, the tallest single-drop waterfall in Mauritius, plunging dramatically nearly 100 meters into a lush tropical gorge surrounded by dense vegetation.

Finally, conclude your tour at the spectacular Chamarel Viewpoint. Overlooking the southwest coastline, this breathtaking panoramic location offers incredible views of the turquoise lagoon, the iconic Le Morne Brabant Mountain, Crystal Rock, and Île aux Bénitiers — one of the most scenic and photographed landscapes in Mauritius.
