Product Info

Monteverde Birdwatching Tour at Curi-Cancha Reserve

Start your day at 7:00 AM as Curi-Cancha Reserve opens, the ideal time to experience the cloud forest at its most active. The early morning offers the best opportunities to observe birds as they begin feeding and singing, making this the perfect time for birdwatching and wildlife photography.

Led by a certified naturalist guide with over 20 years of professional experience, this tour is designed for everyone—from first-time birdwatchers to experienced birders and photographers. Your guide will help you find and identify birds by both sight and sound while sharing fascinating insights into their behavior, ecology, and the unique cloud forest ecosystem.

Curi-Cancha Reserve is recognized as one of Costa Rica's premier birdwatching destinations. Keep an eye out for the spectacular Resplendent Quetzal, Three-wattled Bellbird (seasonal), Emerald Toucanet, Collared Trogon, motmots, woodcreepers, tanagers, hummingbirds, and many other species. Along the trails, you may also encounter monkeys, coatis, agoutis, sloths, butterflies, orchids, reptiles, and other wildlife.

A shared pair of binoculars is available during the tour, and guests are welcome to bring their own binoculars or camera equipment.

What makes this experience truly unique is the opportunity to explore Costa Rica with someone whose knowledge extends far beyond Monteverde. Having guided throughout the country's most important natural destinations for more than two decades, your guide can answer questions and provide trusted recommendations about wildlife, national parks, travel routes, regional differences, local culture, conservation, and the best places to visit during the rest of your journey.

Whether you're searching for your first quetzal, adding new species to your life list, or simply looking to enjoy an unforgettable morning surrounded by nature, this experience offers an authentic, educational, and personalized introduction to one of the richest cloud forests in Costa Rica.
