Product Info

Begin your adventure by navigating through the Térraba-Sierpe mangrove forest on the way to the Pacific Ocean. The mangrove is part of the route and scenery, but the main focus of this experience is marine wildlife observation in the ocean.

Once offshore, search for seasonal humpback whales, dolphins, sea turtles, rays, seabirds, and other marine wildlife. Your guide will help interpret animal behavior, whale migration, dolphin activity, ocean conditions, mangrove ecology, and marine conservation.

The ocean route is flexible and changes according to weather, tides, river conditions, visibility, safety criteria, and recent wildlife activity. The boat moves at a relaxed pace to allow time for observation, photography, questions, and interpretation.

Short observation stops may be made inside the mangrove if something interesting is encountered, but this is not a regular mangrove tour.

Humpback whale sightings are seasonal. The southern migration is generally stronger from approximately July to October. A second migration may occur from approximately December to March or April. Sightings are never guaranteed, and chances can be lower at the beginning and end of each migration period.
