Although it's possible to drive to Malargüe from Buenos Aires in approximately 12 hours, it's recommended that you fly to Mendoza or San Rafael. Then, for the rest of the trip (2.5 hours from San Rafael, 4.5 hours from Mendoza), you can rent a car or travel by bus.
