Explore the capital city of the Maldives, Malé, on a guided walking tour. Choose from a 1.5-hour, 2-hour, or 3-hour tour to suit your schedule and interests. Discover the city's rich history, vibrant culture, and local life as you visit iconic landmarks, bustling markets, and hidden gems.

1.5-Hour Malé City Tour — "Quick Taste of Malé"

Begin at the Hukuru Miskiy, the oldest mosque in the Maldives, built in 1658 from coral stone. Admire the intricate carvings and lacquer work. Next, take a quick walk through Sultan Park and the National Museum, which houses artifacts from the Buddhist era and royal antiques.

Continue to the Malé Fish Market and Local Market, the heart of daily life. Watch tuna auctions, see piles of fresh catch, and browse for local produce, spices, and Maldivian snacks. Then, stop at Republic Square and the Islamic Centre for photos of the massive golden dome of the Grand Friday Mosque.

End with a seaside walk to Artificial Beach, enjoying views of the ocean and local life.

2-Hour Malé City Tour — "Culture & Local Life"

Start at the Hukuru Miskiy and Islamic Cemetery, diving into 17th-century coral architecture and tombstones of sultans. Then, take a 20-minute guided highlights tour of Sultan Park and the National Museum.

View the Presidential Palace, Mulee Aage, from outside, a blue-white colonial building from 1906. Spend more time at the Fish Market and Local Market, interacting with vendors and trying hedikaa short eats or coconut.

Visit the Islamic Centre and Republic Square, entering the mosque if dressed appropriately. End with a quick stroll on Malé’s main shopping street, Majeedhee Magu, for souvenirs like lacquerware, sarongs, and local snacks.

3-Hour Malé City Tour — "Complete Capital Experience"

Begin at the Hukuru Miskiy and Medhu Ziyaarath, visiting the Old Friday Mosque and the tomb of Moroccan scholar Abul Barakat, who brought Islam to the Maldives in 1153. Enjoy a full visit to the National Museum and Sultan Park, covering pre-Islamic to modern history.

View the Presidential Palace, Mulee Aage, from outside, and take a peaceful garden break at Medhu Ziyaarath Garden. Spend more time at the Fish Market and Local Market, watching fish being cut, learning about tuna species, sampling rihaakuru or dried fish, and buying spices to take home.

Visit the Islamic Centre, going inside to see the grand prayer hall and wood carvings. Learn about the 2004 tsunami impact at Republic Square and the Tsunami Monument, enjoying great ocean views.

End with fresh juice by the water at Artificial Beach or Rasfannu Beach, where locals swim in the evenings. Optionally, stop at a local café for mas huni and roshi, or take a ferry to Villimalé for 30 minutes extra.
