― 'Tsu-gu minä perhonen' Exhibition ―
Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2025, the fashion and textile brand minä perhonen begins its creative process with textile design. At the entrance of the venue, approximately 180 types of textiles are displayed, selected from over 1,000 patterns created to date.
Starting with fashion based on the concept of 'special everyday clothing' using original textiles, their activities have gradually expanded to include interiors, tableware, food, and lodging, reaching far beyond the realm of fashion.
In this exhibition, which consists of six chapters, you can experience various forms of 'tsu-gu' (connecting/inheriting) in each chapter, including the serious approach to craftsmanship, the processes involved in shaping items, and the techniques and works passed down through time.
― A Special Collaboration Unique to Kumamoto ―
In Kumamoto, the chosen venue for this exhibition, a special collaboration between traditional crafts passed down through generations and minä perhonen has been realized.
Minä perhonen focused on Kumamoto's local folk toys. Their warm perspective, channeled through their craftsmanship, blends with the sentiments and techniques inherited in the world of Kumamoto's traditional crafts to create new expressions. The works created through this special collaboration will be exhibited for the first time at the Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto.

The Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto is located on the 3rd floor of a complex building facing 'Torichosuji' in the heart of Kumamoto City. It offers well-equipped free spaces, such as a home gallery where you can freely read art-related books and manga. It is easily accessible by public transportation, making it a perfect addition to your sightseeing itinerary in central Kumamoto, including Kumamoto Castle.
