This place originated from an active bauxite sand mining area in the 1980s that was exported to Singapore, but mining activities were stopped, the site was abandoned for years. Erosion, wind, and high rainfall over decades have naturally transformed the remaining sand piles into aesthetic mounds (deserts) and the excavation pits into clear blue lakes since 2017. The water in this lake is fresh water, formed from rainwater and underground water flows. The turquoise color of the lake water is caused by the reflection of sunlight and certain mineral content.
