Take a walk on the icy glacier caps and experience the Icelandic nature up and close. On this day trip, you will hike on the glacier with crampons and experience a wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges and learn about these disappearing giants.

Within less than two hours drive from Reykjavík is Eyjafjallajökull glacier, and just a little further the Sólheimajökull glacier tongue extends down from Mýrdalsjökull, Iceland's fourth largest glacier. Your professional tour guide will provide you with basic glacier equipment and teach you how to use them.

You will also experience the beauty of the striking waterfalls of Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss, as you'll stop by on the way back to Reykjavik. As a bonus, the tour also includes transport with the Plain Wreck Shuttle to visit the DC-3 wreck on the black beach, a perfect opportunity to take some unique photos.

  • Meeting point description: The tour will start from the BSI Coach Terminal, located in downtown Reykjavík. If pick up was selected, please be ready and waiting 30 minutes before the start time listed on your voucher. If pick up is not selected, please make your own way to BSI Bus Terminal (Vatnsmýrarvegur 10, 101 Reykjavík), arriving 15 minutes before the start time.

  • There is no place where to stop for lunch on this tour, therefore you need to bring along a picnic lunch. It's recommended to sit down for lunch before the hike and maybe have a light snack with you for later

  • Remember to dress according to the weather. Warm clothes, waterproof jacket, warm socks and sturdy shoes are recommended

  • Wear thermal layers, a winter hat, scarf and gloves

  • Children 9 years and younger are not permitted on this tour

  • Operation of this tour depends on weather conditions on the glacier
