Kawazu cherry blossoms are an early-blooming variety that begins to flower in early February; they were first discovered in Kawazu Town in 1955. Taking advantage of Izu's mild climate and their early-blooming nature, they reach full bloom over the course of about one month. The typical blooming season is from early February to early March. While the peak bloom period lasts about a week to 10 days, you can still enjoy a satisfying viewing experience even if they are not at full bloom, provided they are at least 50% to 60% open.
Approximately 850 cherry trees bloom along the Kawazu River, with about 8,000 trees in total throughout the area.
- Visit the 'Kappa Temple,' Saisoku-ji Temple
The Zen temple, Hogizan Saisoku-ji, is an ancient temple with a 700-year history. It is also known as the Kappa Temple. It houses many legends and artifacts related to Kappa. The beautiful ceiling paintings are believed to date back to the Edo period.
* This tour does not use a bus. Please note that you will need to carry your own luggage from Kawazu Station, so we recommend bringing easy-to-carry bags and wearing comfortable walking shoes.
