A 3-minute walk from Yoyogi Station. A seafood izakaya where you can enjoy delicious sake and fresh fish from all over Japan, including Toyosu Market, Hokkaido, Ehime, and Nagasaki. Our signature vinegared mackerel and salt-aged sashimi are popular dishes that even attract customers from afar. We also offer true oysters, rock oysters, over 30 types of sake, and monthly craft beers. We look forward to welcoming you to our relaxed space, just a little away from Shinjuku.
Fresh fish delivered directly from fishing ports in Hokkaido, Miyagi, Aichi, Hyogo, Kochi, Miyazaki, etc. are served as sashimi. We also sometimes receive fish that can only be eaten locally, such as flatheads and shark flounders! The owner studies cooking methods for rare fish every day, learning from locals how to eat them. Please also enjoy the owner's recommendation of "Saikyo-yaki", which is made by rubbing miso on the fish for five days, then rubbing it again and again!
Chikuzenni, steamed daikon, hijiki, okara, etc., are simmered dishes that used to be on the dinner table, but are now rare. At Monkichi, we place great emphasis on simmered dishes, as we want to cherish and pass on traditional Japanese food culture. Please enjoy our simple, nostalgic, heartwarming dishes! Sweet, dry, Junmai, Honjozo, Ginjo, Daiginjo... There are many types of sake. So why not try comparing them and find your favorite? We always have about 30 types in stock. Every time we run out of one bottle, we get another one, and so on, so you can discover new sake one after another...◎If you want to try it but don't know much about it, please feel free to ask our staff!
Many customers visit Yoyogi, saying, "I want a quiet place near Shinjuku..." From Yoyogi, you have to go down a small alley, so the atmosphere of this hidden gem is excellent◎ Once you go down the stairs and enter the restaurant, you will find a calm, modern Japanese space. Although it is semi-basement, it has high ceilings and glass windows, so it is spacious and you can relax comfortably. Please feel free to contact us for any banquets!

- We accept reservations for courses starting from 3 people. If you have any requests regarding ingredients or menu changes, please feel free to let us know. The last drink order is 30 minutes before the end of the party. We cook a lot of sea bream rice, but we apologize if it runs out. If you have a large number of people, please contact us by the day before.

Dining time is limited. If you're late and therefore shorten the dining time, the dining time cannot be extended.

【About Reservations】
Reservations for Fridays and the day before National Holidays can only be made by phone and are not accepted online. Please call us to check availability, as there may be open seats. Even if online booking is unavailable for weekdays, please call us as there may still be space.
Online reservations are accepted for groups of 3 or more; for groups of 1-2, please book by phone. We are closed on Sat.. ～ Sun and National Holidays, but we do accept course banquet reservations for groups of 15 or more. Thank you!
